Several Worlds

Anything can happen here
when eyes are closed
and all the dreary rules
of day are overturned.

Guarding a gold sword
I drift in the deep,
you swim at my shoulder
and keep me safe.

I wander in wild woods,
discover stone carvings
and wonder how to make
the theme park pay.

Resting on damp rocks
a group gathers round,
I recite the Lord's Prayer
so they'll think I am sane.

I return at dawn
quite ready
to start a new day.
Anything can happen here.
